However, the hope for economic "equality" between different nations sounds like something straight from the worldwide socialism camp. I thought you _didn't_ like Uncle Karl!
There will always be rich and poor countries, based largely on the abilities and choices of the inhabitants of those countries.

Lewis's book is excellent. It's about growth, i.e., "escape from poverty" -- and about the differences among countries in that regard. It's about what's keeping the poor countries in the stone age, and what keeps the rich ones getting richer (and it's not because of capitalism or freedom in the rich countries, it's about lack of those in the poor ones). Marxism -- i.e., "equal poverty for all" -- isn't even close to the message.
